Ten Years After Obergefell: A New Look at LGBTQ+ Family Life

June 26, 2025

Ten years after the Supreme Court’s landmark Obergefell v. Hodges decision legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, what does life look like for LGBTQ+ families in America?

On June 26, The 19th invites you to a conversation about the realities of LGBTQ+ family life today, anchored in new findings from Pew Research Center’s latest study. The research explores how LGBTQ+ families are formed, how partners share responsibilities, what support looks like, experiences of LGBTQ+ adults — and where challenges and misconceptions persist.

We’ll hear directly from researchers and LGBTQ+ parents about what’s changed in the past decade, and what lies ahead.

  • When: Thursday, June 26, 2025
  • Where: Pew Research Center, 901 E St. NW, Washington, DC 20004
  • Time: Doors open at 9:30 a.m. ET with coffee and conversation. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET.
